HALLOWEEN
FLAGS
Hanging up a Halloween flag
or banner outside your home during the month of October is a really great way to let your
neighbors and passer-byes know that your family is now in the Halloween spirit!
Plus, putting up a flag-pole and flag is so easy
that everyone should do it and display seasonal flags year round! It only takes about five minutes and usually requires only a
screw driver.
While we fly the Halloween Online
flag year round, on the first day of October we hang up several flags as a way to announce
to the world that we have moved into full fright mode.
Basically, all you need are three things. A
flag pole holder, the pole and a flag. The pole and holder are available year round at
most department, hardware and craft stores. Flags with Halloween designs on them are
usually only available during the haunting season, but its easy to make your own flags
from materials you can buy at your local fabric store.
First you need to select a
suitable location for mounting your flag pole holder. You'll want the flag
to be visible to people passing your house, but it also
must have a secure wall or board to attach the flag pole holder to.
This can be the side of your house, right next to
your front door, a fence post or
you could install a 4"x4"x8' board in the ground to act as a flag pole post. While you should always follow the
instructions that come with the flag pole holder, its usually as simple as placing the
holder against the surface it will be attached to, then screwing it into place.
Once the holder has been installed in
it's chosen place, you
slide the flag over the pole, then slip the pole into the holder and
tighten the holding screw. That's it!
