HALLOWEEN GOOGLE EYES SHIRT |
|
Show off your
creativity and your Halloween spirit by wearing Halloween
themed shirts that you can make yourself, all month long! This Google Eye shirt is an easy,
inexpensive way to dress up a simple t-shirt or sweatshirt. Using an inexpensive long or short sleeved t-shirt
or sweatshirt found in
craft stores or mass retailers, some fabric paint, fabric
glue and
a few different sizes of plastic google eyes (used for
crafts, dolls, etc.), you can make this
shirt in one day and wear it the next! It's a great project to
do with the kids, too! Need a quickie costume for a child?
You can do this to kids sweat shirt and pants!
What You Need:
Black or Orange T-shirt
Squeezable
Fabric Paint in Neon Orange, Black or Glow-in-the-Dark
Multi-Pack of
Various Size of Google Eyes
Washable
Fabric Glue
Poster Board or Cardboard
Pick a t-shirt, long or short sleeved. Wash
according to manufacturers directions.
Google eyes, in case you've been living in a
cave, are those domed plastic eyes that consist
of a white plastic background, a transparent
cover dome with a black circle in them. They jiggle
whenever moved. You can find them in many sizes,
they are inexpensive and come in packs that
contain three or four graduated sizes or single
packs. We found that using four or five
different sizes makes for a great looking shirt.
After washing and ironing your t-shirt, slip a
piece of card board, t-shirt board or poster board inside so
when you glue on the eyes and use fabric paint,
the shirt won't stick together. Using pairs of
eyes, place them all over the shirt and glue
down. Use as many as
you want, the more eyes the better, go crazy with
the Google Eyes! Use some of the very large
size, lots of medium sized and even some of the
very tiny eyes. Leave room for fabric paint
embellishment around the eyes.
After the glue dries
(check bottle for instructions), use glossy black, orange
or glow-in-the-dark squeeze fabric paint and go around each
eye for extra security and to give it some depth.
Give them some eyelashes if you like!
You could paint or use a transfer made on your
computer, with a Halloween slogan first, like "HAPPY
HALLOWEEN!" or "BOO!" and add the eyes
for a variation on the plain google eye shirt.
Be warned, the eyes DO NOT wash well!!
Hand washing is highly suggested. |
